Togetherness

Dear interweb,

Maybe you never did this or don’t remember doing it. But when I was younger, before I got into the “downloading-mp3’s-scene”, I bought CD’s from time to time. The personal computer at home was mostly used for school, looking up stuff, messenger or creating my dad’s booklets. When I wanted to learn to music, I used the radio I had that was in my room.

I remember this one time, when I went to a CD-store with a friend. He needed to buy something and I was just checking out the new arrivals. I saw he was going to buy the new CD from the Roots (Phrenology) and I wanted to check it out, see what their sound was like. I liked it and bought the disk too. Back at home, we were just chilling and listening to the CD. We were both impressed!
A couple a years later we went to see a show from Busta Rhymes when his new CD (the Big Bang) got out, but that is another story.

A couple of weeks ago I received a newsletter from the FreeRecordShop and in it was a message that said: if you bought Linkin Park’s latest CD (a Thousand Suns), you had a chance to win concert tickets. Well, I never did receive those tickets but I’m a big fan and needed to share the news immediately to a good femfriend (Thelea) of mine. Just like I did, she pre-ordered it and a some days later we had some new great songs to listen to!

My point, after all this babbling about, you ask? Lately people hardly buy CD’s or listen to music together. I find that odd, because since the beginning of the first tunes, music is what got people closer together. I’m not saying people should spend more money on CD’s or something, but instead of just downloading for your mp3-player: download it, share with a friend and listen to it together. Trust me: it will be worth the time and it is also more fun!

Peace...and out,
Shade
